After harvesting animal, detach the skull from the body and remove all of the hair and skin from the skull. Remove any attached vertebrae from the rear of the skull at the occipital condyle. Keep cool in refrigerator or on ice.

Place in plastic bags.

Freeze solid for 3-4 days, then deliver the skull to us or express ship it to us. (See “Shipping & Packing Info” Below)

Remove the eyes, tongue, any excess side meat, and the brain completely. For Horned Game (antelope, sheep, buffalo, cattle), remove both horns. Keep cool in refrigerator or on ice.

Place in plastic bags.

SHIPPING & PACKING INFORMATION

Step 1:

– Complete the Preparation Instructions listed on the “Skull Preparation” page

– Prepare the frozen skull using the following steps

– Place in at least 2 plastic Ziplocs or heavy duty trash bags

Step 3:

– Seal completely in plastic bags and wrap in newspaper

– Horned & Antlered Skulls: Tape rubber hose over antler & horn ends

Step 4:

– Place in sturdy box with enough newspaper, or styrofoam for secure support and insulation

Step 5:

– Insert completed ‘Western Skulls Information Form’ along with specimen

– Seal all 6 sides with packaging tape. Mark as “Fragile” on outside of box.

– If your skull arrives thawed, warm, maggot infested or showing signs of decay, we WILL refuse the skull for our services. You can boil it yourself. Please use all methods necessary to prevent this from happening to your trophy.

– Please make sure all necessary and required permits, and/or locking tags are attached to the specimen or photocopies are sent in the package.
